Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally parting ways with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters at once, so to get a championship is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, supported by an better serve.

He recovered from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, taking 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour title, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
