Automobiles in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Police reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Officers state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Police then found numerous other marked vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have requested to the residents for information.

An important representative commented the incident left him without words and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
